The White Paper and Its Following
http://www.fuelyourwriting.com
Why? It's a beautiful site that's well-run & highly revered. Not to mention it's full of information for writers of all types and genres.
Great content, beautiful design, covers a lot of topics within their niche. I'm a big fan!
I think the blog offers very pragmatic ideas on making freelance writing an attainable career.
That's easy. Men WithPens - menwithpens.ca
Because they're consistently amazing me with the level of thought they put into their tips and tricks, because they raise the bar all the time with guest posts that add tremendously to their scope, and because they reachright through the screen and grab you with their warm, personal writing style.
As essential as morning coffee. I couldn't do without them.
Regards,
Kelly
If I only manage to get to one feed on a given day, it's this one. Not only is it packed with pertinent information, but their complimentary personalities shine through in every post. It's like sitting down with a really smart friend over morning latte, and I've yet to find anyone who creates a community quite as well as the Pen Men.
They are consistently good, offering useful advice and information that readers can do something with. They know how to build community and more importently friendships and have a darn good business that makes their clients VERY happy. They also had the brains to bring on the Rogue, which was just plain brilliant.
And, she's even given me a freelance writing lead! Who could ask for anything more? :-)

No question, Larry Brooks' Story Fix. He does a great job of sharing his knowledge of craft with humor and insight. His most recent 10 part series on Story Structure is the best tutorial on the subject I've ever read.
Apart from what Wendi, Mike and others have said, James and Harry have been incredibly supportive of me over the last 6 or so months.
I subscribe to a lot of writing sites and the information she puts out is top notch. No bloviating or grandstanding - just good information. She also engages her audience by responding to comments - an important detail in my opinion.
Thanks for running the contest!

Tops in my book!
http://storyfix.com/
Quite new on the scene but incredibly valuable content.
variety and quality
I'm going to toss in Michel Fortin's blog at http://www.michelfortin.com/
Good copywriting advice, solid business tips, and knowledge coming apart at the seams.
G'luck everyone!
http://writetodone.com/
Provides links to thoughtful articles and useful info, interviews with writers, and great original writerly cartoons too!

The author is an advertising copywriter / creative director with over 25 years of experience helping some of America's best known brands communicate their key message more effectively.
Useful, easy to read, interesting, knowledgeable.
It's new, but I think it is worthy of winning!

Thanks,
Addie Williams
I've gained so much valuable info from Laurie's site - everything from how to blog, maximizing SEO, getting past procrastination, writing query letters, using writing tools and technuiques - you name it. Plus I really enjoy her warm, friendly style of writing and responding to comments.
No matter what kind of writer you are, they have something for everyone. You can't just limit their tips to online copywriting or marketing specifically - you can take their engaging posts and transfer it to almost anything. It's one of the only blogs I have to read every day.
Awesome information, great guidance, and tons of good leads. It's very obvious how much work goes into this site.
I do love seeing the other nominations here, though, and will enjoy visiting these sites!
http://theadventurouswriter.com/blogwriting/
It has many tips and suggestions for improving readership on blogs, submitting sample chapters and querys, selecting blog themes, improving writing skills and so much more. Well thought out and quality advice. Top notch site in many ways. Check it out!
Claire reaches out to all writers, and is especially helpful to the young and nervous. A friendly, community-style atmosphere is nurtured and it's always nice to learn about the writer behind the words ("Things I Love Thursday" and such!) instead of seeing just a bunch of impersonal text like an instruction booklet.
As a successful freelance writer herself, Laurie is willing to share the strategies she's learned along the way and has a genuine desire to see her readers succeed in their own writing pursuits. Plus, she's not afraid to talk openly about what to do when things don't work out.
Deb works hard at getting the good writing jobs out there and I've been reading her site for several years now. Good article that are timely and great jobs. What more could you want???
Their information is spot on, their work is awesome, I've learnt so much from reading the blog. They're helping freelance writers and also anyone who writes for their business.
Plus they're all round nice guys. :-)
This website provides good content for establish and novice freelancers alike. It has given me great tips and advice while also allowing a look into the freelance market. Deb's writing is intuitive, but mostly importantly, 100% her opinion.

Larry speaks from a place where I need him, clear and concise. He is sincere and assists writers from all backgrounds and experience levels.
Thanks for hosting this contest. I like www.writetodone.com, too, but Larry gets my #1 spot.
His recent series on story architecture with examples and in depth reasoning for why building a solid foundation for how the story can grow got me reexamining my writing in a way nothing else I've read on or off the web has, so it gets my hearty nomiation
I love Laurie's practical advice and quick, easy to digest information. It's the perfect email to get in my inbox and her topics are also helpful to me.
Angela <><
I came for the job leads, and stayed for the insightful posts about the writing life. Sometimes working alone is too insulating, and it's great to hear about how other writers handle some of the roadblocks I've also encountered, as well as read tips about building a practice that might have taken me a great deal of trial and error to learn on my own.

Without Joanna's coaching, I would not be writing today.
And when it comes to a writing coach / blogger, is there any higher testament?
Simple and clean.

Without Joanna's coaching, I would not be writing today.
And for a writing coach/blogger, is there any higher testament?
This is the only blogg I log into on a daily basis. It's look is clean, and always visually interesting. The content is varied, well written and light in tone. The site is also specifically designed for poets who are starting out, and as one of them I have found it fully of useful information and tips. It also oten facilitates interesting discussions. Claire, who runs the sight is also not afraid to get her readers involved, and often has guest posts etc.
Well deserving of recognition.
Joanna provides valuable tips and resources plus much needed inspiration. I know my writing has improved in just the few months I've been reading her blog.
Check it out
Susan is a friendly, generous voice in the online writing community and she offers consistent good advice for freelance writers.

It's a really great blog - full of solid tips on writing. The explanations are clear and fun to read. The blog itself is an example of how to write well.
Laverne Daley (Words into Print).
Beautiful site that has wonderful advice and finds the best links. It always makes me excited about writing.
http://loriwidmer.blogspot.com
She is a fulltime freelancer who is both an outstanding writer and an outstanding businesswoman, and she advocates fair pay for one's work.
Unlike many of the sites whose hosts claim they support fair pay and then either schill or are sponsored by mill content sites who pay substandard wages (as in $15/article), Lori walks her talk.
Joanna is generous with her advice to fellow writers, and especially good at sharing useful resources via Twitter.
I appreciate her easy to read and understand writing. As a member of the Elder Generation and new to writing, this is a biggie for me. Laurie is always friendly, answers emails, etc. She reminded us to write even if one hour a day.
Joanna Young, not only is she a great writer and motivator, but she has brought together writers of all sorts and fashioned a dedicated community.
Great insight into the journey of freelancing.
http://www.grokdotcom.com/
Love you James, and Brian and Sonia, you are still at the top in my book, but in the past few months I find I need a virtual trip to Scotland as much as I need air. So this year my vote is going to help bring Joanna into her much deserved spot. :)
Authoritative yet friendly - just how I like my tips delivered.
She is always inspiring, refreshing and encouraging - she really lives what she writes and is enormously generous in sharing what she is learning. Joanna is also very prompt in her replies to comments, responding to each comment specifically. She has definitely brought more Confidence to my Writing!
She has such a wonderful way of offering gentle encouragement and heartfelt support, that she has drawn an incredibly lovely community around her blog. Such a special place to hang out & spend some time, join in the conversation and then leave refreshed, relaxed & ready to write.

This is the blog for Future Now, one of the most successful web conversion companies out there. I'm not exaggerating when I say that their posts (especially those written by Jeff Sexton) are profound. They approach topics and teaching opportunities from a very unique perspective, and present information in a way that compels you to give it a try. The perfect combination of teaching and telling a story I've found so far.
One Night Stanzas is the blog I go back to, again and again, for good advice, to cheer me up and to read new work by emerging writers. One nomination from me!
it rocks!
Best Regards
Paul

Her blog is so informative, she features fabulous poets, and really contributes to the greater good of literature as a whole by featuring new and upcoming and young poets, linking to poetry around the blogosphere and also to anything interesting, peculiar, intriguing and beautiful.
I love Claire- she is a great inspiration!
:)
I'd like to nominate Write for Your Life http://writeforyourlife.net/ a new writing blog on the scene. I particularly enjoy the focus on productivity tips applied to writing, plus Iain's blogging style is refreshing and engaging
One of the best poetry/blog sites out there. End of story.

she is a joy to have encountered and her site has helped me sooo much in my writing. she is ever on the ball with pointing out comps, valuable info and constantly champions new up and coming writers. her site is refreshing, awesome and an all round joy to read.
I like this site because the posts are short yet well-written and packed with useful info.
They also have excellent guest authors/bloggers to add a myriad of voices to the mix.
She puts a lot of herself into her posts and I learn as much from the way she writes as from what she writes about.
All of Pamela’s articles have practical elements to them. She obviously knows her stuff when it comes to being a freelance writer. Also her author profiles tell the readers something new or interesting about writing and getting published.
http://writeforyourlife.net/
You won't find a writer's blog easier on the eye!
I go back because Joanna's created a community as much as anything. And it's nice there. You know your comments are being read and you know that you're helping to shape something rather smashing.
I like their tone and the posts are always useful. Plus they offer great classes.
Big fan of Larry Brooks' no BS approach.
I'd like to nominate Future Now's GrokDotCom:
http://www.grokdotcom.com
Their frequent posts on writing are thorough, thought-provoking, and have certainly made me a better writer. I'm always excited to see a new (1) next to their name in google reader. Plus, Jeff does a great job continuing the discussion in his post's comments.

As a published author and writer's workshop speaker, Larry shares his skill and knowledge concisely and with humor. This blog not only instructs with excellence -- it inspires!

I am just starting out as a freelance writer and I love Laurie's blog. She gives great tips in an easy-to-read, interesting format. I can spend hours reading her blog and soaking up all her fantastic writing advice!
I never get tired of reading Georganna. She always seems to come up with new angles on issues of interest to writers, and she's a hoot besides. Full of personality, but not that awful snarkiness you find so often these days. A truly original thinker.
My vote goes to Laurie's Quips and Tips, as I thought it had the most helpful advice.
My vote goes to storyfix.com. Best, most intelligent blog I have read online
Pamela's skills as a freelance journalist comes through on her
site/blog with her interesting articles, her ideas for us novices, her intelligence and her knowledge in so many areas.
She definitely gets my vote!!!
Judy May
She gives me hope and inspiration to keep writing. She also makes me laugh on days when I've hit a brick wall so hard my face hurts from smiling and pretending it's all good.
When Larry Brooks says "write better, get published" he is serious! Not only does Larry have the knowledge and expertise it takes to enlighten and motivate aspiring writers, he is sincere in his desire to help people achieve their goals and dreams.
This site provides quality information on all aspects of writing. Articles are well written, smart and fun. Everyone should subscribe to Fuel Your Writing.

Both clever and funny!
http://www.nailyournovel.com/
Lots of good stuff here from an experienced professional who really knows her stuff.
http://www.nailyournovel.com/
I cannot recommend her blog highly enough, it being quite splendid.
There's some really useful and thought provoking stuff on there. Especially handy for people who have got so far and then got stuck or who are trying to re-write and wondering if they've made any classic errors or missed out on something they could have made more of.

A splendid site for all phases of writing and publishing. Georganna gives practical and timely advice laced with wit. She is on the cutting edge of the industry, sharing what she knows with those lucky enough to have discovered and loved her blog!
I nominate Collective Inkwell.
David and Sean present a vibrant and exciting site based around a solid community of creative people. The Collective Inkwell has recently undergone a design change and looks clean and sharp to reflect the quality of the content. The authors both enjoy individual success with their own sites, but at The Inkwell, the power of creative collaboration is plain to see.
Thanks
Dave Fowler
This blog doesn't overfill with text. IT cuts to the quick and helps the reader and writer to focus on the important issues of grappling with the difficulties of writing. IT's humorous, has tons of feedback adding yet more helpful suggestions.
A top writer's site.

www.howpublishingreallyworks.blogspot.com
This blog pulls no punches. It explores relevant issues from all sides and allows comments from all those who have anything to say on the topic concerned - positive and negative.
The owner, Jane Smith, appears particularly keen not to show bias. If there is a debate, she will act as fair referee, stepping in when there is a need.
Organisations and individuals that are proven to be working against the best interests of writers and the accredited publishing world in general get short shrift - links are given and these are exposed.
The blog was the hub of a recent organised 'anti-plagiarism' series, in which writers and publishers, editors and competition organisers were able to air their views and experiences, with the aim of increasing awareness of the dangers of plagiarists/plagiarism throughout the writing industry.
She's too clued-up for her own good, and makes sure the rest of us are too.
"That's easy. Men WithPens - menwithpens.ca
Because they're consistently amazing me with the level of thought they put into their tips and tricks, because they raise the bar all the time with guest posts that add tremendously to their scope, and because they reach right through the screen and grab you with their warm, personal writing style."
And I agree completely.
Sean Platt and David Wright have formed an inspiring body of posts that have inspired writers from all walks of life - with shop talk along also creative writing stories.
I have personally been so deeply inspired by CollectiveInkwell, that I chose to close my online ecommerce business and pursue my life long passion to write.
How's THAT for an unbelievably excellent and life changing writer's blog!? That is the power of words at it's best.
That should win, hands-down.
Together, Sean and Dave offer solid tips, entertain the masses and know how to include and build community.
A true inspiration to other creative types, Collective Inkwell shows the awesomeness that occurs when two top-notch talents explore new horizons.
I follow her on twitter too @QuipsAndTips. She gets my vote, absolutely!!
For all her tireless work supporting and guiding new and emerging poets, Claire Askew, deserves many thanks.
For all her tireless work supporting and guiding new and emerging poets, Claire Askew, deserves many thanks.

Claire Askew brings exposure and guidance to new and emerging poets, and is deserving in inclusion of this list.
http://howpublishingreallyworks.blogspot.com/
There are many fantastic blogs out there for writers, but Jane Smith's site is so all-encompasing that is deserves to be nominated. She gives invaluable advice for the newbie writer and the established author. Her posts are varied and cover everything from writing that manuscript to publication. She regularly hands over posts to people in the industry in order to pass on more information, and she is second to none in trying to protect people from the sharks in the business.
It's fun, lively, and very informative
http://collectiveinkwell.com/
Fresh new talent and writing that's different than anything I've ever seen on the Web.
I read to know I am not alone.

Larry Brooks is the real deal. The site is informative, witty and above all it has helped me in my journey to becoming a writer. So when it comes down to "who's the best" there's no competition.

Consistently interesting, forward thinking, and thought provoking.

Thanks for this contest -- it's been great to see who else is out there!
It's a wealth of information, easy access in the Q&A arena, and a highly entertaining style of writing. Seriously! This is important--I remember more when I'm laughing!
Interesting topics, good guests, easy to read.
These guys don't just write a blog about writing. They actually write copy for clients, as well as design websites.
Their advice is worthwhile because they're actually doing, on a daily basis, what they talk about. Some writing bloggers, I wonder how often they actually do write for customers (and get paid).
With MWP, I know they're the real deal. And, they touch on everything: how to write better, how to run a writing business, why customer service is so important (and how to practice it well), and so on.

Sandra Gulland
http://www.sandragulland.com/
Always useful and relevant information. The perfect example of what a blog should be used for.
http://www.dirtywhitecandy.com/?p=95
It is concise, witty, and inspirational. Roz Morris' professionalism shows. You can tell she's wrestled with the dilemmas she provides answers to. It shows in the freshness of her ideas, and the encouragment she provides. This blog has helped me far more than any other to date.
I feel that it should be nominated because I go to great effort to have posts that are either informative or entertaining or both. I feel the information that I include there can be beneficial to all writers. For example, my most recent post was on Self Promotion of Your writing, with some very helpful tips from several noted authors and writers included. Check it out for yourself and see if you don't agree.
It might not be that competitive as of now but it has really come a big way during last 2 months; currently it's all set to make an entry into top 1.00 lakh site on alexa...it's worth mentioning and following.

If you have writing aspirations, www.storyfix.com by Larry Brooks is a must read.
Brooks will make you smile while making you think. And, readers who follow even some of his tips, will become better writers. I personally can attest to the effectiveness of Brooks' advice. The novels I wrote while taking classes from him, unlike the previous six, got published.
It's thoughtful, inspiring and keeps me coming back for more. Drew's blog has something to say, it's award winning for sure!
This blog is easy to understand and honest. As a newbie, I learned much and as I progress, I still learn from it.
Most of all, she makes it sound so effortless.
Story Fix by Larry Brooks his knowledge of the craft writing, insight, and well constructed for the aspiring writer.
They offer a variety of articles to fit the readers interests and needs.
http://writersontherise.wordpress.com/.
Excellent info, timely, not re-hashes, professionally done.
I nominate Nadine Laman's blog - www.nadinelaman.blogspot.com - she did an incredible 'blog party' last month giving away books, increasing site visits for all the particpating authors, and increasing their sales too! Check out August to look back at the posts, some of which have 80 or more comments.
Larry's advice is the most useful, straight forward writing advice I've ever seen. It's an MFA program in blog form. In short, it rocks!
Sent from my iPod Touch
I nominate a local, non-profit blog, the Aspiring Mangaka & Writers club; http://amwc.wordpress.com/
The blog's frequently updated with the latest topics & sayings of the self-publishing world, for literary & visual works, and has the initiative to bring in guest writers to share their experiences or tips- done all for us, the aspiring!
So it doesn't matter if you're a novice writer or a published veteran; AMWC has the news you could use.
As an editor myself, I feel that it's really easy to help people who are already good in writing to improve. However, it's so much harder when you have high school students or people who haven't had much experience in writing as your blog audience.
And I think that's what sets the AMWC blog apart from other writing blogs... It's not just a blog for writers who already know how to write, but more of a one-stop writing resource blog for young student-writers...
For its originality, for the commendable job that it's done in gaining readership among its target audience, and for the inspiration that it offers very young writers... I think the AMWC deserves the much-coveted award... :)
I think it is a great information source for people who wish to produce content and get their works published.
The niche nature of the blog also resulted in more specific, and useful, information being shared.
What sets it apart from other writing blogs is its unique local perspective. Moon sheds light on the quixotic traits of Singapore's publishing industry and provides practical tips for aspiring writers wanting to get published.
Love the guest posts and interviews as well. Moon consistently attempts to get an outsider's perspective onto the blog, and I appreciate that.
They offer practical advice for writers in all fields--a great resource for anyone in the working world.
This is a great resource for writers in all fields. They share things in a way that's fun.
A team of quality writers contribute their expert knowledge on a daily basis.
